Tavis was honored with the 2022 Cassidy Yang Memorial Award, an award administered by the Quantitative and Computational Biology (QCB) program at Princeton in remembrance of Cassidy Yang, a QCB graduate student who died as a result of a car accident in December 2020. The award recognizes a combination of excellence in academics and leadership in mentoring other students, participating in outreach activities, and fostering the graduate student community.
